By targeting the right keywords based on the client's requirement, as an SEO Project Manager, I can direct the writers to optimize content, meta tags, and other elements to increase a website's chances of ranking higher in search engine results pages.

What tools do SEO Project Managers like me use to track performance?

SEO Project Managers use two sets of tools: one set is project management tools, such as Clickup, Asana, Trello, Jira, or Monday.com. Another set of tools includes Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Moz. The first set enables us to manage projects. In contrast, the second set of these tools enables us to track and monitor keyword rankings, organic traffic, and backlink profiles, empowering data-driven decisions for our SEO strategies. For local SEO, I love using Ahrefs and SE Ranking for rank tracking and keyword analysis. I use Screaming Frog for technical SEO-related tasks and Screaming Frog Local and Local Falcon for Local SEO.

How do I stay updated on industry trends and algorithm changes as an SEO Project Manager?

As an SEO Project Manager, I stay updated on industry trends and algorithm changes by regularly reading industry blogs and following SEO gurus and their posts on LinkedIn. A wealth of free information is available on LinkedIn. I watch YouTube videos published by some relevant SEO channels. I am subscribed to SEO academies, through which I receive the latest information and training. Additionally, I collaborate with other SEO consultants, with whom I discuss the latest trends and best practices.

What qualifications and skills are required to become an SEO Project Manager?

Let me break this into two parts. For project management, you can prepare for certifications such as the PMP. Regarding SEO, I suggest focusing on building your profile and experience rather than chasing certifications. Keep your knowledge up to date by learning daily and applying your learnings on test websites. It's more about trial and testing. In combination, you need to be familiar with both SEO and project management, as well as some skill sets related to website development, which would be an added advantage.
